A stone's throw from Rieti

Given its central location, Rieti is the perfect "base camp" from which to visit also the beautiful art towns that surround it. Needless to suggest to visit, also considering the short distance that separates it from Rieti, Rome and its immense wealth, is a truism! Staying in the Lazio region, worth a also visit the nearby Tivoli, with the famous Villa di Adriano, and Viterbo, with its splendid Palace of the Popes, each at about 60 km away. At about 20 km from Rieti, heading towards Umbria you can visit the famous Marmore waterfalls, imposing work of hydraulic engineering dating back to Roman times, which diverted the course of the river Velino to reclaim the Rieti basin, giving rise the show that we can still admire today. Staying in Umbria is a compulsory route through the beautiful medieval villages, such as Todi, Spoleto, Orvieto, of course Assisi, Franciscan place, a world center of spirituality, and Cascia, with its basilica dedicated to Saint Rita immersed in a fascinating panorama. Not far away, for the real gourmets, there is Norcia, the “kingdom” of the butchery.
